DOES EVERYONE AGREE ON CREATING A 60 minutes/ 20/20 type of program BROKEN DOWN BY CONTENT AS AN OVERALL UNIT PROJECT!!!!
Where every "period 1" math, science, social studies and english on our unit theme will make their own news story which will be tied in into the overall newscast. That way every student is involved in at least one news story.
1st period Math Class will create their own documentary against child labor in China and India using the facts obtained from pervious week.
1st period Science Class hold a aired simulated protest outside a lake against environmental and health affecting pollution from factories.
1st period English class will write persuasive letters to leading political figures / hold mock interviews with the press regarding (researched) dangerous factory conditions.
1st period Social Studies will create an online newspaper consisting of articles written by reporters (students) to disclose their findings. This can be done on a wikispace page, where students will have the ability to embed visual aides gathered to support their work. English:
Students will consider actions that can be taken to improve factory life and unsafe conditions in factories around the world today. They will also create persuasive letters to political figures, campaigns, blogs, myspace pages/facebook groups, and other creative writing tasks to further their understanding of both historical and present day struggles of the working class. They must try to research why it happens, what has been done previously to by people to change it, and create their own method for change.
